REBECCA'S RIDING ACADEMY
REBECCA’S RIDING ACADEMY offers Dressage, English, and Western
instruction for beginners. We focus primarily on the fundamentals of effective
riding (such as using riding aids correctly), all aspects of horse
care/grooming, and the proper use of tack. ‘Hacking’ (riding for fun) on the
beach is also a part of learning that is unique to our ranch.
STUDENT
REQUIREMENTS
Students are required to
be at a stage of development where they are mentally able to concentrate for
sustained periods, and physically heavy enough for our school horses to
respond. With this in mind, children that are younger than 8 years of age are
not considered for lessons. An interview of a potential student prior to acceptance is preferred.
LESSONS
‘Safety first’ isimplemented at all times. Lessons can last anywhere from 1 hour to 90 minutes with the amount of time actually spent riding depending on the student’sability to groom and tack their horse properly, as well as quickly master thegoal for that lesson. Parents are always welcome to stay for the part orduration of any lesson to observe their child’s progress.

ENVIRONMENT
Lessons
take place at the Horses On The Beach Corpus ranch in a controlled
environment/round pen. Students may also graduate up to a rectangular arena. We
have a clean, family-friendly ranch. Ponies for lead line lessons are not
available at this time.
EQUIPMENT
& ATTIRE
A certified safety helmet is required for all students. We recommend that you purchase a helmet for your child to ensure a
perfect fit and achieve a higher level of protection. Boots with a heel are
needed to prevent feet from going through the stirrups during riding, and
provide protection while walking around & about the ranch. We have found
the Lone Star Country Store on Leopard St. to be a great place to find many of
these items.
