Leslie volunteered with us for almost three months before she started being a “guide”. On her first trip to the beach she got bucked off and has been working on staying in the saddle ever sense. :) In six months time, Leslie bought her first horse from us, “Rouge” and presently rides her as much as she can while attending Texas A & M. Leslie boards Rouge at a friend’s facility during off season and guides on Rouge during the summer months. We are pleased that Leslie has stuck with us. Leslie does things our way and even shows up to work on Christmas Day!
Thank you Leslie, we appreciate you.
Rebecca Jordan Riding Instructor
"My passion for horses started in Kindergarten where I
won an art contest with my creative drawing of a unicorn. For my seventh
birthday my cousin gave me her riding hat, breeches, and a gift certificate for
a lesson at Hadley Hills Riding Stable in Michigan. The first horse I ever rode
was 16 hands and his name was “Kyzer”. I had to climb on the corner feeder to
put his bridle on and it was required that all students learn how to fall from their mount!
Let’s just say, my first lessons were not all fun and I spent a lot of time
wishing I could just go out in the field and ride “Kyzer” into the sunset...
For the past 25 years
I have been actively learning about every aspect of being an all around equestrian.
From halter shows, breeding, starting yearlings, farm management, into
dressage, and presently learning cutting. You could say, I love learning!
When I decided to offer beginner lessons at Horses On The Beach Corpus it
didn’t take long to decide what my focus would be: The effective fundamentals
of riding.
My lessons are often a blend of dressage in a western or English saddle to help
you learn how to be safe, use your aids properly, and set obtainable
goals."
